In 2015, the Canadian Women’s Team earned a silver medal in South Korea, at the 28th Summer Universiade, and they will be looking to repeat their performance from two years ago. The Canadian Men’s Team have not participated in the water polo tournament since 2013, when the FISU Games were in Kazan (Russia). This year will be different as two teams will represent our nation in Taipei City (Taipei). This tournament will be a great opportunity for Canadian student-athletes to participate in a large-scale international sporting event.

“Water Polo Canada is very excited and proud to participate in one of the largest sporting events in the world. Not only will this be an excellent experience for the players and staff but will hopefully start to shed a larger spotlight light on University Sports in Canada" said Men’s Head Coach, Brian Parillo .

For this competition, the Canadian Women’s Team are in Pool A along with Russia, Hungary, Japan, Great Britain, New Zealand. The Men’s National Team will compete in group C with Hungary, Serbia and the Republic of South Africa. The 29th Summer Universiade will take place in Taipei City (Taipei) from August 18th-30th, 2017.
