2017 Athletes’ Council Election Results

Ottawa November 20, 2017 – On October 5 2017,Water Polo Canada (WPC) extended an invitation for nominations to eligible individuals who might be interested in serving on the Athletes’ Council.

Following the call for interested candidates in October, Water Polo Canada received three nominations for the three available spots on the Athletes' Council. Given these circumstances, there is no need for an election and the three nominated individuals will be acclaimed to available positions on the Athletes' Council. Their two-year terms will begin December 1, 2017.

The three individuals will fill the following roles (with each position appointed by the President of Water Polo Canada):

  • Gaelan Patterson - Chair, Liaison to male WPC athletes associated with NCAA or professional leagues
  • Gurpreet Sohi - Athlete Representative, Liaison to female WPC athletes associated with NCAA or professional leagues
  • Aleksa Stanic - Athlete Representative, Liaison to Junior and Youth Men's National Team Program Athletes

The Athletes’ Council mandate is to represent and promote the views and interests of the youth, junior and senior national team athletes in an effort to further the objectives of the WPC Board, Staff, Officials and Coaches in achieving best-ever performances.
