Water Polo Canada is pleased to announce the Junior Women’s National Team roster for the FINA Junior World Championships being held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from August 9th to 15th, 2009. The team will also travel to Eger, Hungary prior to the World Championship to compete in the Olympic Hopes tournament from July 31st to August 2nd as a preparation event.

The World Championships is the culmination of a two year program for these young athletes which included a gold medal performance at the Junior Pan American Championships held in Sao Paulo, Brazil last summer to qualify for this event. The team has trained exceptionally hard and is looking forward to competing against the other top countries in the world at this sixteen team tournament.
Team Canada will be doing battle against Germany, Mexico, and Greece in the round robin portion of the tournament and must place in the top three in their group to advance to the crossovers.
