Békhazi Joëlle

Water Polo Background

Joëlle began swimming with the PCSC at the age of 6. She began her water polo career at the community outdoor pools of the West Island and participated in the summer league for a few years before joining DDO Water Polo in 2001. She’s been playing competitive water polo since the age of 13. Joëlle made the Junior National Team at the age of 16 and represented Canada at two Junior World Championships. She’s been on the Senior National Team for the past 7 years. Joëlle was part of the silver medal winning Canadian team at the 2007 Pan American Games and at the 2009 FINA World Aquatic Championships. In 2010, Joëlle won the NCAA Championships as a member of the USC women’s water polo team. In 2011, she was also part of the silver medal winning Canadian team at the Pan American Games.

Strengths

Her strengths are speed, agility, game sense, good work ethic and her competitive edge and nature.

Goals

To help the team succeed through this quadriennal, with her experience and knowledge as a player.

Hobbies & Education

Joëlle likes spending time with her friends and family, travelling, and reading. She graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California, She also has a Masters in Physiology from the University of McGill. She is currently studying in Osteopathy. 

Greatest Influence

Her parents for always pushing her to want to be better and to never give up. All the DDO coaches who have been so passionate about the sport and helped instill that passion in her. The USC coaching staff who showed her what it takes to become a winner. All her coaches on the National Team who have influenced and developed her into becoming the player she is today. And lastly, her teammates for all their help and encouragement.
