Mission Statement:
  To provide competitive water polo opportunities for male and female athletes aged eighteen (18) and over.  MLWP is part of Water Polo Canada’s (WPC) implementation of its Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model for athletes in the Training to Compete and Training to Perform pathways in the competition stream.

Vision Statement:  MLWP will expand to include all provinces from coast to coast, and will be the premier club water polo league in Canada for male and female athletes aged 18 and over.  MLWP will increase participant retention at all levels:  athletes, referees, coaches, and volunteers/administrators.

League Format:  Ten(10) men's and six (6) women's teams from Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.  The teams involved on the men's side are the Bowness Monster (representing Alberta) Hamilton AC, Toronto Golden Jets, Toronto Chargers, York Mavericks, Carleton Water Walkers, Gatineau Internationals, Carleton Water Walkers, Dollard Devils, CAMO Roadrunners, and the Laval Tritons. 

The women's league involves the Hamilton AC, Toronto Golden Jets, York Mavericks, Dollard WC, and CAMO WC, and Ste-Foy Hydres. 

Each team has a voting member present on the Board of Governors who is responsible for up keeping of league rules, the handbook, and the growth and development plans of the league.

Alberta WC will play a total of six (6) games against the following teams/clubs:  Hamilton AC; Toronto Golden Jets; Carleton Water Walkers; Gatineau Internationals; CAMO Roadrunners; and Dollard Devils.  Alberta WC will only be competing for the wild card playoff birth.


All other teams/clubs will play a total of twelve (12) regular season games.  Ontario Division teams/clubs will play a two (2) game series against each other with the exception of the York Mavericks and Toronto Chargers who will play a three (3) game series.  The Capital Division teams/clubs will play a four (4) game series against each other.  The Quebec Division teams/clubs will play a two (2) game series against each other with the exception that Laval Tritons will play the CAMO Roadrunners and Dollard Devils in a three (3) game series.


Each teams/club will play an opponent outside of its division once (1), with the exception of Alberta WC.


The Gatineau Internationals will play host to the 2010 MLWP Playoff Weekend March 26-28 at the new Gatineau Sports Centre.  The Gatineau Internationals as host, along with the winner of the Ontario Division, Quebec Division, and the top ranked wild card team will qualify for the playoff weekend.  Teams will be ranked by winning percentage.

The playoff weekend will consist of a single round robin followed by a 2nd place v 3rd place Semi Final Game with the winner playing the 1st place team in the Championship Game.  The loser of the Semi Final Game will play the 4th place team in the Bronze Medal Game.
