Verica Bakoc

Verica Bakoc began playing water polo at the age of 10 after growing up watching her brothers play.

As a left-handed driver she represented the Mavericks Water Polo Club and played for the University of Southern California. During her time at USC, she won two national championships in 2018 and 2021, noting that these are her best memories in the sport so far. She graduated with a degree in Real Estate Development.

After her time at USC, Verica went on to play a few seasons abroad in Europe. During the 2021-2022 season she competed with Ethnikos Water Polo Club in Greece where she won the Len Trophy. The following season she competed in Barcelona with Club Esportiu Mediterrani.

Verica Bakoc represented Canada at the 2023 and 2024 World Aquatics Championships and won a silver medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.

Being part of a team is the aspect she loves most about water polo. Her goal is to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
