Water Polo Canada (WPC) believes in continually sculpting its Next Generation of athletes and coaches and has begun to implement initiatives to support this process. Throughout the 2017- 2018 season WPC will conduct four High Performance Camps across the country in collaboration with the National Championship League (NCL) where two camps will be held in Western Canada and two in Eastern Canada. These camps will be open to coaches and athletes participating the NCL and is structured to accomplish four main objectives:

  1. Promote and diffuse National Team (NT) Curriculum to PSO’s & Clubs
  2. F acilitate talent identification and selection for NT’s
  3. Build a large pool of athletes for future NT programs
  4. Develop coaches and leaders across country

When: High Performance camps will occur in synchronization with the NCL major weekends, where camps will be held on Sunday evening, Monday Morning and Monday afternoon.

  • November 12-13, 2017 - Regina, Saskatchewan - Detailed Schedule
  • December 17, 2017 (1-day camp) - Montreal, Quebec** - Detailed Schedule
  • March 18-19, 2018 - Ottawa, Ontario
  • March 18-19, 2018 - Calgary, Alberta 
**To register please fill out the HP Camp form and send it to Justin Oliveira before 8 pm on December 12, 2017.
All athletes and coaches must use this method to register and to pay for the camp .
Who: Camps will be open to all athletes participating in the NCL and who would like to try out for future NT’s. Athletes must be registered with WPC and in good standing. Coaches are invited to participate in the camps as well to further promote system alignment.

Cost: an athlete fee of $100 for each camp will be charged to cover the logistics of the camp, any remaining funds will be reinvested into AGNT Programs. Coaches are able to attend the camp free of charge. Collection of fees for athletes will be done through the clubs. Clubs will submit an athlete list and will be invoiced for their participation.

Athletes will receive up to 6-hours of in water training and additional classroom time with men’s & women’s NT coaches.

Coaches will have the opportunity to network amongst each other and current NT coaches and shall received PD points in the NCCP Locker.

Logistics & Accommodations :  WPC will not be responsible for organizing travel and accommodations for athletes attending the camp.
In order to reduce costs for traveling athletes, families are encouraged billet if possible. Athlete’s shall receive a $25 reduction for the camp cost should they be able to billet during the camp weekend. In the the attached registration form there is will also be a call for families interested in billet including the amount of places. Water Polo Canada shall arrange the priority billets based on the registration from clubs teams.
