Water Polo Canada

Coach Radu-Johnson joins the Senior Women's National Team staff

Tuesday, January 6, 2026

Water Polo Canada is pleased to announce Marina Radu-Johnson as the new Assistant Coach of the Senior Women’s National Team.

Coach Radu-Johnson is the current Women's Junior (19U) National Team Head Coach, a 2004 Olympian, former World Championship and World League silver medalist and long-time National Team alumni.  She brings a significant wealth of knowledge and experience to this position, and we wish her every success in this new role.

"I’m thrilled to be coming home, to a program that has given me so much over my career,” said Marina Radu-Johnson, who will be working on a part-time basis with Water Polo Canada. “I am so proud to represent Canada again. Together with the coaching staff and athletes, we will learn from each other and grow into the Team that inspires our future generations.

“As our Senior Women's National Team begins its preparation towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games, I’m pleased to welcome Coach Radu-Johnson to the staff. Her experience and perspective will be a valuable addition to our program” said Water Polo Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team Head Coach, Kyriaki Liosi.

Water Polo Canada extends its sincere thanks to Coach Samuel Donoghue for his invaluable services and important contribution as Interim Assistant Coach of the Women's National Team program over the last 6 months.
