Water Polo Canada presents the Canadian Team at the 2022 FINA Water Polo Women's World League Super Final

Nov. 01, 2022

Montreal, November 1, 2022. Water Polo Canada presents Team Canada at the 2022 FINA Women's Water Polo World League Super Final which will take place November 2-6 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.

This prestigious tournament will see 8 of the best women's water polo teams in the world compete for a total purse of $340,000 US: Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Hungary, Italy, Holland, Spain. This is the 18th time that the FINA Women's Super Final is held.

The Canadian team finished 5th in its last appearance at the FINA World Women's Super Final in June 2021 in Athens. Canada's best performance at this tournament was a silver medal in Kirishi, Russia, in 2009 and in Shanghai, China, in 2017.

Canada will be sending 14 players, 3 coaches and a 5-person support team to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. With a return to some normalcy in the training and competition schedule for the Canadian team, the goal of this tournament is to end 2022 on a positive note and to start preparing for what will be a very important and busy year in 2023 for the entire Canadian water polo program.

"We just got reunited today, following our September Training Camp in Montreal, where we had built solid bases for the year, and now we'll be able to act on them in this tournament. There is no quarterfinal this year, which makes every game like a final. I'm looking forward to seeing our progression from last summer, since in our round-robin pool, we’ll be playing two of the opponents we faced at the last World Championships,” said Canada’s Head Coach, David Paradelo.
